Starting To Write Fanfic
Dec. 17th, 2018 10:18 amI've been wanting to write fanfic, except I'm not sure where to begin on that.
Especially since my favorite ridiculous it-would-never-happen ship (Erik/Raoul) is a rarepair.
I have mixed feelings on Erik/Christine, I feel like it's better for darker stories, rather than fluff (at least in original canon, AUs are great for fluff for them.)

A Heart Too Soon Made Glad by Shiroimono?)
My major problem with Erik/Christine fluff is that it's utterly out of character (and also incompatible with canon, in its normal scenario).
The usual way to write fanfic, at least for me, is to start with a fan theory :-)
(e.g. what if it really was Piangi singing in "Point of No Return" after the Phantom'sĀ attempt to kill him off backfired :-D)
Or simply writing a canon scene from an alternate point of view; movie-Buquet versus the Phantom with Buquet as the sympathetic protagonist (weirdly, the movie pretty much does this anyway)
Note: despite its reputation, fan-fiction does not actually have to have ships!

on 2018-12-19 04:13 pm (UTC)I saw a fan theory on Tumblr that Erik had tried to train Carlotta, and she had rejected him. I even wrote a short fic about it, and then lost it when I deleted my Tumblrs.
