Haven't been on here in ages, but wanted to say Happy New Year to everyone.

As much as I despise my job, I'm reminding myself that it's better than the crushing depression of *not* having a job.

First actual shift at work is today, both nervous and excited.

I know it's been forever since I posted on here, but I finally got a job! An actual, paying, "real job."

It's a call center/customer support job, which tbh isn't my favorite, but it's at least *something*.

Finished The Vampire Lestat. Tbh I think I enjoyed it more in high school. I'm not sure if I want to read Queen of the Damned yet or not, but I might as well finish up the trilogy.

Recovering from minor surgery is not the time to read a weird horror novel.

Debating between picking up The Choir of Ill Children, or Entropy in Bloom.

I feel like reading horror, though Entropy in Bloom is a short story collection.

Ugh, so I had the meeting with my counselor today, and they won't let me change my career goals until I've been job hunting for 6-12 months with them and getting nothing. According to them, 3 months isn't that long.

I've been job hunting on my own for like 6 months total, and I've only gotten one interview, and that interview sucked ass.

Also, they won't support me financially in going back to school, because apparently with my business degree, I can do that with my disability. So going back to school for medical coding (which I'm looking at) won't be supported by them, because they don't want to have to support people through multiple degrees.

*screams in frustration*

Is there a community for people who work with death deities?

I work with an unrecorded Death goddess, and she’s encouraging me to reach out to others who have experiences with deities like her.

For some reason I'm struggling with Memories of Ice.

I bought the audiobook, and reading along helps.

Unfortunately, my Kindle app keeps crashing while listening to the book.

I kind of miss Tumblr, mainly my eshrine and dashomancy. (I have Pinterest, but I feel like my dash there isn't random enough to be *true* dashomancy.)

Then I'm like, no, Varian, you fled the blue hellsite for a reason.

Good news: my Seroquel has been reduced, and I've been put on a new anti-psychotic medication that doesn't cause weight gain

Bad news: it cost $200 when I went to pick it up

I've called my doctor and left a message, because y i k e s.

I finished the main questline in Starbound last night.

Tbh, the plot was just okay, it was another Chosen One Saves The Universe plot, which tbh I'm really tired of in fantasy and sci-fi. The quests about scanning stuff were really tedious, though it did give my character an excuse to explore.

At the new house, and we have wi-fi now.

I'll probably be off social media for a while while we get stuff unpacked, but just wanted to make a quick post.

Being trans is a weird experience.

I have a job interview today, and I feel like I need to make extra effort in order to "pass" as a woman.

So far I've been sticking really well to the "don't buy cheap ebooks" goal I've set myself for this year. I've discovered that my library has the entire Dresden Files series in ebook format, so I've been reading those and enjoying them.

I really, really, wish I knew what I was doing wrong when it comes to my job hunt.

I've been applying, sending in my resume and cover letters, all my information is correct...and I either still get rejected, or I never hear back.

I know I have no experience, but how do you get experience if no one will hire you??????

I think I'm in love with loom knitting.

I've cast on a blanket, and so far I've got 11 rows knit within two days, which is *way* faster than I would normally knit 105 worsted weight stitches (usually a row or two a day at the most, depending.)

It *does* have a learning curve, and so far I only know the e-wrap stitch, *but* the e-wrap have a lovely wave-y texture to it that looks really neat. I love how it's nearly impossible to drop a stitch (though I have some some accidental yarn overs,) and that I can just put my loom down in he middle of a row without losing my place.
