How on earth do you *knit* rows that long? It's not an issue with crochet as you only ever have one stitch on the hook at a time, but I can't imagine the longest cable needles ever being long enough to reach around even one side of a shawl that big....
I started out on 29" circular needles, which is what the pattern called for. Around 75% of the way in, the project felt like it was becoming too big for those needles, so I switched over to a longer cable. I'm not sure what cable size I used, I think it may have been 36", but I'm not 100% sure on that.
